Why do we need to develop electronic manufacturing in Kenya?

“Just ten countries account for 90% of all global patents and 70% of all exports, directly associated with the advanced digital production (ADP) technologies driving the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Another 40 actively engage in these technologies, but the rest of the world remains largely excluded from technological breakthroughs such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), advanced robotics and additive manufacturing.”

Africa is largely left out of the innovation cycle driving advanced technology. If we are to succeed in using these technologies to leapfrog development, then we must not build capability to use this technology; we must also create technology.
